Argentine Departs After Just One Season

Pochettino Leaves Chelsea by Mutual Consent

Argentine Departs After Just One Season

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has left the club by mutual consent after just one season in charge. The Argentine joined the Blues in July 2023 after guiding Tottenham Hotspur to the Champions League final in the previous campaign. However, he has been unable to replicate that success at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea finishing sixth in the Premier League this season.

West London Club Struggling

Chelsea have struggled for consistency under Pochettino, winning just 16 of their 38 Premier League matches this season. They also exited the Champions League at the last-16 stage and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester City in the semi-finals.

Pochettino's departure is the latest in a series of managerial changes at Chelsea in recent years. Since Roman Abramovich took over the club in 2003, the Blues have had 12 different managers, with only Jose Mourinho winning the Premier League title more than once.

Roberto Di Matteo remains Chelsea first team manager to win the UEFA Champions League. Taking charge of the London team in 2012, he went on to win the famous trophy and the FA Cup before leaving the club the following year.
